About

The prom dress reference.

Most prom dress information online is published by someone who wants to sell you a dress. We don't sell anything, so we can tell you when a silhouette is hard to sit down in or when a size chart won't match the garment it's printed beside.

Who publishes this

promdresses.com is published by people who work in the formal-wear industry. That's why we cover the category, not companies: no brand reviews, rankings, comparisons, or profiles — and no ads, sponsorships, or affiliate links.

How this is funded

There are no ads on this site, no sponsored placements, and no affiliate links. We take no money from makers or shops, and none of them see anything before it's published. The publishers fund it directly.

We intend to open a marketplace later, and when that happens we'll say so plainly on every page it affects — the reference material will stay separate from anything transactional.

How we know what we publish

Two kinds of information appear on this site, and we never blend them:

We don't measure dresses ourselves. A chart covers everything a brand makes; a tape covers one dress, and we'd never measure enough of them to answer for the style you're looking at. The full reasoning is in the methodology.

Who writes it

Articles are published under a masthead byline, the promdresses.com editorial team. Much of our audience is under eighteen, and a team byline keeps attention on the method and the sources — the things you can check — rather than on individuals. Contributors with relevant trade experience, such as seamstresses and stylists, are credited by name on the articles they review.

Your privacy

If you use a feature that highlights your size, your measurements stay on your own device and are never sent to us. Fit reports describe a garment, not a person: we ask what size you wore, what you usually wear, and how it fit — never your name, your email, or your body measurements. The details are in the privacy notice.
